But it’s all about the habits. We can’t get to the point where we consciously are making a change to how we eat and train. We have to do it unconsciously too.
One big part of the problem is that you have to force yourself into a certain diet and exercise routine, otherwise you won’t be able to get to the point where you can break it and not do it. It’s not that we have to make a big change, but that we have to keep up a certain level of commitment to what we are doing.
For some people a change in eating habits can be a lot easier than others. If youre really bad at cooking, it can be hard to get to the point where you don’t want to eat and you can’t stop yourself from eating, that makes it a lot harder to really make a change. In the case of Super Drive, it’s not really a big change.
The biggest change we’re making is not about getting new exercise equipment or getting off our fat lazy asses. It’s about not just getting to a certain point, but a certain point where you can do it without the need of a treadmill. It just feels like youre not working for anything. It takes a lot of determination, a lot of dedication, and a lot of self responsibility to get there.
Maybe its the superdrive, or maybe it’s just the fact that we love to work out. Maybe it is both. I’ve never really been a fan of the gym, but I guess I’m not a gym rat. I just think that if you’re not working to get to the point of being a stronger or fitter you’re not working at all.
This reminds me of the quote I was recently reading from Daniel Kahneman, which is something to the effect of “I’m not a doctor, but if you were, you could probably write a book called ‘My life as a gym rat.
I dont know if I really have room to say anything nice about Kahneman but he said two things I think are good. First, Im not a doctor, but I can tell when my body is telling me something. So when I hear that my legs are telling me to run, and my arms are telling me to lift, I know that I need to do something about it.
This is a good reminder for all of us, in particular, to keep in mind that our bodies are really, really good at telling us what we need to do with our bodies.
The other thing that Kahneman said is that we need to be mindful that we need to use our body to perform our jobs, and not just to do one thing, and that we need to put it all into our heads so that it can be done correctly. We also need to be careful about what we focus on and what we don’t. Too much focus on running or lifting, or on the weight we lift, will affect our performance.
Our bodies are awesome at telling us what we want to do, so there’s no reason we can’t use them to tell us what we should be doing. Some of our bodies, like our brains, are already wired differently than what is needed for our job. Just because our bodies tell us what we should do doesn’t mean that they should be controlling how we do it.
