Why disclosure matters to us
Reader trust is the entire foundation of a publication, and nothing erodes it faster than a hidden financial interest. That is why we treat affiliate disclosure not as a legal box to tick but as a basic courtesy: you deserve to know, before you read a recommendation, that we might earn a commission if you act on it. We would rather over-disclose than leave any reader wondering whether a recommendation was bought.
How affiliate links appear on our site
On any article that contains affiliate links, you will see a clear disclosure at the very top, above the article body, before you read a word of the content. It states plainly that the article contains affiliate links and that 2 Forks Events may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you, if you buy through them. We do not bury this at the bottom of the page or hide it in small print, because the whole point of a disclosure is that you see it before you decide.
Our affiliate relationships
Depending on the article, we may participate in affiliate or partner programs with ticketing platforms and event-related retailers — for example established ticketing marketplaces, and general retailers for party supplies, wedding décor, and event gear. Where we link to a ticket platform, we aim to point you to a reputable, established source. We are not a ticketing platform ourselves, and any purchase, pricing, fees, and fulfilment happen on the platform you are sent to, under its own terms and privacy policy.
Editorial independence comes first
This is the most important commitment on this page. Affiliate revenue never influences our editorial coverage. We do not cover an event, recommend a product, or shade a review because of a commission. We do not accept payment to change our opinion. If the best advice is “wait,” “buy resale,” “go elsewhere,” or “you probably don’t need this,” that is what we will say. Our editorial team and our commercial arrangements are kept separate, and coverage and recommendations are made on the merits, as set out in our Editorial Policy and Ethics Policy.
A note on ticket prices
Ticket prices change, and there is often a difference between face-value (primary) prices and resale (secondary) prices. Where we mention prices, we try to be clear about which is which and about the fact that prices move, and that fees are usually added at checkout. Always confirm the current, all-in price on the ticketing platform itself before you buy, and be cautious of prices that look too good to be true. Our guide to buying concert tickets safely explains this in detail.
Sponsored content is different
Affiliate links are not the same as sponsored content. When a piece is paid for by a sponsor, it is clearly labelled “Sponsored” and kept visually distinct from our editorial, as described in our Sponsored Content Policy. We do not sell guest posts, and we do not publish paid coverage disguised as independent editorial. Advertising, sponsored content, and affiliate links are three separate things, and we keep them clearly distinct so you always know what you are looking at.
Amazon and other programs
Where applicable, 2 Forks Events may participate in affiliate programs operated by retailers and networks, which pay a commission on qualifying purchases made through our links. Participation in any such program does not imply the retailer endorses 2 Forks Events, or that we endorse everything the retailer sells — we link only to things we would genuinely point a reader toward. Where a program requires a specific form of words, we include it, but the principle is always the same: honest disclosure, and independence from the commission.
Questions and reporting a missing disclosure
If anything about our affiliate links is unclear, or you believe a disclosure is missing from an article that should have one, please tell us at editorial@2forksevents.com. We take that seriously, because the clarity of the line between editorial and commercial is central to our credibility. We would always rather a reader flagged a concern than quietly lost trust in us, and we will correct any genuine oversight promptly.
What you can expect from a recommendation
When we recommend where to buy tickets or which product suits an event, that recommendation reflects genuine editorial judgment about what serves the reader — not which partner pays the most. We consider factors a reader actually cares about: reliability of the seller, buyer protections, total cost including fees, and fit for the specific use. Where two options are close, we say so; where the honest answer is that you do not need to buy anything, we say that too. A commission is something we may earn if you find our recommendation useful and act on it — never the reason the recommendation exists.
Affiliate links versus advertising versus sponsorship
It is worth being precise, because these three things are often confused. An affiliate link is a normal editorial link that happens to pay us a commission if you buy through it; the content around it is independent editorial. Advertising is a paid placement, clearly labelled as an advertisement, that is separate from our editorial. Sponsored content is a piece paid for by a sponsor, clearly labelled “Sponsored” and kept distinct from editorial. We keep all three clearly distinguished so you always know what you are reading, and each is governed by its own standards — this page for affiliate links, and our Sponsored Content Policy and Advertise page for the others.
International readers
Although we follow the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on disclosure as a clear, widely-recognised standard, we apply the same transparency to all our readers wherever they are, and we aim to meet the disclosure and consumer-protection expectations that apply in the EU and elsewhere. The principle does not change with your location: if we might earn from a link, you will know before you click it.
Our commitment, in one line
If we might earn from a link, you will know before you click it; if we recommend something, it is because we believe it serves you, not because it pays us; and if the honest answer is not to buy, we will say so. That is the whole of our affiliate philosophy, and everything on this page is simply an expansion of it. Questions or a missing disclosure? Email editorial@2forksevents.com and we will put it right.
